Hello Misfits all over the world!

The first month of the Misfits contest is over and we want to give a big shout out to Sandro and to Vinicius for submitting their entries to be in the running to win a Misfits T-shirt as well as the grand annual prize which is an all expenses international trip to participate in our first public Umbala! project! The Misfits team have met and discussed the entries and agreed that while these are great examples of Collective Art projects, and the kinds of projects we want to see in the contest, we really want to see projects that have been created for the purpose of entering this contest. This means projects will not be selected if they were undertaken before the contest was announced (August 1).

In addition, the winner will be selected based on an assessment of the artwork itself as well as the degree of collectivity demonstrated in your description/video. This means the submission should include a story about the Collective Art creative process explaining, for example, how your team came together, how your team set the vision for the artwork and how each of the artists learned and grew as a result of the collective process. Submissions that explain and emphasize the collective process (either a written explanation or a video) and explaining the experience of the participants will have a greater chance of winning. This is your opportunity to impress us by documenting the collective process from start to finish.

We look forward to seeing the September entries for the contest and hearing all about how working collectively inspired you and your team throughout the creative process.

    The Misfits Unified team.
